Sophie & Greg | COVID Wedding Series 1

I previously announced I was doing Wedding Wednesday, a blog series every Wednesday from February 26 through June 17 showing a wedding or related to one of my wedding couples somehow.

So far my two most recent weddings that happened had way less guests than anticipated due to the coronavirus outbreak, but they were both so beautiful and perfect.

I have had three weddings be postponed, two weddings be moved to an earlier date with a handful of immediate family members, and one wedding will still occur on the date planned even if its just the couple with me 6 feet away.

Today’s blog was scheduled to be Sophie & Greg’s wedding blog. They were supposed to get married on March 28, 2020 at Rosie Creek Farms. I have decided to share a blog still and make it about the couple’s love every week. Regardless what natural disaster or act of God happens, the love remains and it’s worthy of being shared. If we can’t share it in front of their loved ones at the altar, we will share it on a blog and show off their engagement gallery.

Sophie & Greg are a super special couple to me because they valued me and my artistry from the very beginning. She inquired for 3/28/2020 when I was already booked for that date. She asked if we could still do an engagement session and we did. She had plans to have a family friend take her wedding photos since I was booked up. Then my 3/28 wedding got moved to February (The McDowells, check out their wedding on the blog) and I messaged Sophie in hopes she still wanted me to document her big day. Luckily she did and we began planning right away. Needless to say, I will be still documenting their wedding but in 2021.

I asked Sophie if she would mind sharing her and Greg’s love story/wedding story. Here’s what she had to say-

“Growing up I was best friends with Greg’s younger twin sisters, Sam and Abbey. Greg was a few years older than us and it was safe to say I had a itty bitty crush on him. Time passed, I and many years later (10 to be exact) he FINALLY asked me out on a date! He bought snacks and paint supplies and we watched a Bob Ross episode at his house, my painting was horrible and of course his was perfect, but it was then we realized how well we clicked. We became each other’s best friends overnight and soon after that we fell in love.

March 9th, 2019 Greg proposed while we were on vacation with our fur babies in Blue Ridge, GA. We were supposed to be married March 28th at Rosie Creek Farm but unfortunately the universe had other plans. I am native to England and a portion of my close family lives far away, my maid of honor was stationed in Key West with her husband, and practically all of Greg’s family lives out of state. Meaning that almost over night the vast majority of people we cared about were unable to come. We had to make the tough decision to postpone the wedding to February 13th, 2021. While it wasn’t a choice we wanted to make, we are seeing it an opportunity to put more time and thought into our wedding! Our awesome vendors have been so helpful throughout the process, we couldn’t have asked to work with more kind people (Cierra especially!). We are so excited to spend our special day with our loved ones next year!”

They didn’t get to dance on the Chicago brick dance floor for their wedding YET, but I still have a photo of them dancing there during their engagement photos.

Thanks you, Sophie, for sharing your story.

For everyone reading this… have some extra compassion for anyone you know getting married, even if it’s in 2021. Life is CRAZY right now and planning a wedding makes it crazier. Some are having to postpone, others are shrinking their wedding, some don’t know if they should continue planning even when they’re meeting deadlines for if their wedding is still on.

I’m praying for every single one of my couples, and I ask that you do too.

The wedding is postponed, Love isn’t.
